Chapter Newsletters
We all know that communication with your members is very important.
You want them to be informed, aware and prepared - for
everything. A great way to accomplish this is to have a chapter
newsletter.
To help you get started, here are some suggestions of items you might
want to include in your newsletter:
-
Message from the Chapter President
-
Calendar of upcoming chapter and ASCnet events
-
Recap of your most recent chapter meeting
-
Update on what's happening in the industry
-
Tips and Tricks
-
Contact information for your chapter officers
Once you know what items you want to include in your newsletter
you'll want to decide how you're going to put it all together. For
instance you'll want to answer these questions before you get
started:
-
Will you be e-mailing or snail mailing this newsletter?
-
How much information will you be including? Will it fill up 1 page,
2 pages, or more?
-
What will it look like? Will you be sending it as a
regular e-mail or will you want to make it look more like a professional
newsletter?
If you decide to have a more professional looking newsletter, you
might want to use one of Microsoft's newsletter templates. You will find
an extensive sampling by going to Microsoft's newsletter template pages.
There is no one correct way to prepare your newsletters. The only
important thing to remember is that you be consistent. If you're going
to send a newsletter, make sure every issue is recognizable as your
chapter's newsletter and that it arrives in your members' mail/e-mail
box when expected.
Now you just need to get started. To help you out, here are some
examples of what other chapters are doing:
