PAC (Product Advisory Committee) & Enhancements

ASCnet’s Product Advisory Committee (PAC - Formerly PDC) works closely with the Product Management Division of Applied Systems to determine which enhancements to present at the Product Roadmap meetings and helping evaluate trends in the industry. Applied agrees it is important that the users effect change and has stated they want ASCnet and need ASCnet to assist them in their future product development.

The Product Advisory Committee

Over the past two years, the Product Advisory Committee has changed in the way it works with Applied Systems. Whereas your enhancement requests in the past were submitted through ASCnet, they now go directly to Applied for entry in the appropriate area of their Program Modification Reporting (PMR) system.

The Product Advisory Committee has four teams that parallel the structure of Applied’s Product Management: Customer, Policy, Accounting and Ancillary Products. Each team holds regular conference calls and ad hoc discussions, facilitated by Applied’s Product Manager, to discuss features and proposed enhancements to the program. The committee members provide essential user feedback to Applied Systems. Twice a year the leaders of all four teams meet in person with Applied Systems.

Can I submit enhancement requests? Yes! It's Easy!

Applied’s portal has a simple form for you to fill out. Log in, click on the Support tab, and then click on Enhancement Request. Give brief details as to what your idea will accomplish, what you do now as a workaround, and how what you’re proposing will be an improvement. You’ll get an automated email, and your request will be entered into the PMR system. If you’re talking to an Applied support tech you can also ask him/her to enter a PMR on your behalf. You’ll just need to answer the same questions.

How do I know if my idea has been accepted?

You’ll get a PMR number and will be able to inquire as to its status. Bear in mind that even a very small change affects countless areas of the program, and has to go through many stages of development including research, programming, and testing, so it could be a long time before you see the improvement in the software.  Applied Systems uses the PMR numbers throughout the development process and will include reference to specific PMR numbers in software release notes.

Thank You!

The PAC wishes to thank the many users who continually bring in fresh ideas.
