ASCnet Operating Committees

To complement the Board’s strategic focus, the operating committees within ASCnet are empowered by the Board through the annual approval of committee charters (work plans) to carry out the initiatives of the association.  They are charged with identifying those deliverables that drive us closer to achieving our strategic goals and objectives and ultimately our vision to be recognized as the leading resource for enhancing agency and broker profitability and value.

Committee Structure

While the focus of each committee is obviously different, their general structure is not.  Specifically, each committee consists of a chair, vice chair (co-chair for some), staff liaison, members and chapter liaison whose respective roles are as follows:

  • Chair:  Empowered by the Board to lead the work of their committee. The chair is responsible for working with the committee to define and achieve objectives and deliverables to meet the strategic objectives of ASCnet as determined by the Board.  The chair reports to the ASCnet Board.
  • Vice Chair (Co-Chair):  Assists the committee chair in successfully executing the deliverables according to the mission statement.  The vice chair reports to the committee chair.
  • Staff Liaison: Responsible for integrating operational perspectives into the committee, such as advising the committee on important initiatives to consider, developing annual committee budget and reporting applicable financial results to the committee, and serving as a liaison between the committee and other staff members.
  • Committee Member:  Responsible for helping the chair develop and implement the objectives and deliverables of the committee.  Committee members are expected to participate in and contribute to calls and other meetings; may be asked to lead or participate in sub-committees and/or task forces created by the committee; and are expected to answer questions related to their specific committee.  Committee members report to the committee chair.
  • Chapter Liaison:  Responsible for relaying information in a two-way process between the committee and the local chapters.  When members have concerns, issues or ideas the liaison is the person who can contact the appropriate committee to pass on the information.  The committee is also responsible to the liaison to pass on information about the work of the committee, so the liaison can share that knowledge with their chapter members.

Additionally, committee size will vary among the committees and may vary from year to year within the committee depending upon the deliverables and goals identified.
