The Nomination Process

From the identification of potential future leaders to casting your vote, the ASCnet nominations process depends upon the active involvement of our members.

Candidates are presented to the nominations committee throughout the year from various sources and must meet the following criteria:

  • Eligible nominees must be representatives of User Members in good standing
  • If two or more individuals from the same User Membership are legally affiliated, including without limitation parent/subsidiary, brother/sister (subsidiaries of the same parent member), partnership/partner, or corporation/division, only one of them may serve on the Board at a time.

The nominations process can be summarized as follows:

First and foremost, as part of its efforts to remain an effective, strategic governing Board, the sitting Board completes an annual assessment of its skills, competencies, and experiences comparing them with both its current and future needs. A key outcome, of which, is the identification of current Board strengths as well as current growth opportunities. In addition to review by the Board, the results of this assessment are shared with the Nominations Committee.

Armed with this information, the Nominations Committee begins its search to present a slate of candidates whose skills and abilities compliment those identified in the Board’s assessment. Candidates participating in our entire nominations process complete an initial survey, an application, an Omnia profile, and an interview with a group of past association leaders, who do not currently sit on the nominations committee. The final slate is selected based upon the committee’s review and evaluation of all of the above information. The slate is presented to the membership for election.

On behalf of the entire Nominations Committee, I would like to personally thank you for participating by casting your vote.
